Talla

On May 24th 1944 Licio Nencetti, founder and commander of the so-called “Flying Company” or “Teppa” (Hooligans), was captured by Italian-German units in Lanciolina, while travelling to a meeting in Pratomagno with partisan commanders Aligi Barducci (Potente) and Giuseppe Versari.
He was first transferred to the German Headquarters in Borgo alla Collina and then to the Military District in Poppi. There he was sentenced to death, probably under pressure from the Germans, and transferred to Talla after being brutally tortured. The execution was carried out by a firing squad of the Rassina GNR under the command of Lt. Mario Sorrentino and Lt. Lieutenant Pietro Sacchetti. The execution also cost the life of the young boy Marcello Baldi. Hearing the commotion from inside the church, he innocently opened the door just as the gunfire killed Nencetti.
After this event, the command of the IV Partisan Company was taken over by Bruno Fantoni.
