Killing in combat of members of the Resistance
Partisan Pio Campana, Commander of a company of the Romagna Group, was killed during a clash with nazi-fascist forces. His body was found in August 1945 and was identified by the Political Commissioner of the Ravenna Detachment. There is thought to be an error in the dating of the episode in the official documents, which describe it as having happened on 8th April. It probably took place on April 18th and was thus one of the many cases of disbanded partisans of the Romagna Brigade being trapped in the encirclement manoeuvres on Mount Falterona (April 12th – 19th 1944) and killed, or captured and executed later in Romagna. There is a monument to the memory of Pio Campana near the main square at Passo Della Calla.
