Execution of member of the Resistance
The partisan Pietro Uscieri of the VII Company volunteered to go on patrol alone to Borgo alla Collina, his home village, where the Germans were concentrating now they were about to lose Poppi. Having discovered a mine charge and some bombs set up for detonation, he tried to sabotage them by pouring water over them. Detected by the enemy and chased up to the area of La Selvine, just above the village of Borgo alla Collina, he was caught while fleeing and struck down by a burst of machine-gun fire.
The Germans blew up the village on August 31, 1944.
